What are they?
Dental implants are a permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. A small metal or ceramic device is screwed into the jaw bone.
This device holds the replacement teeth, be it in the form of a crown, bridge or denture. Implants are suited for people with healthy gums and in good general health, prepared to maintain good oral hygiene.
What does it involve?
Dental implant treatment at our London clinic involves oral surgery and takes place in stages over a period of several months, usually under a local anaesthetic.
First the bone of the jaw will be exposed, a hole will be drilled and the implant will be inserted into the bone.
The gums will be sewn to cover the implant. This will need to heal for several months so the bone can grow around the implant. After that the replacement teeth are put in place over the implant. They can be fixed or removable for cleaning.
